Abstract:

(Critical) This program presents a narrated slide demonstration of methods gathering information concerning asymmetry, range of motion and tissue texture abnormalities during a routine examination of an acutely ill patient. The process isdemonstrated in concise and logical fashion. It is stressed that a large amount of information available frequently goes unobserved and unrecorded during a physical examination. The presentation is somewhat hurried with a monotonous voice. There should be some caution expressed regarding the examination of the neck in traumatized patients. The program should be particularly useful for those studing physical diagnosis, for residents caring for acutely ill patients, and for practicing physicians interested in continuing education. It is recommended.
