Documents Chase's work as a member of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's "brain trust" and of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission during its' investigation of Chicago meatpackers in 1919. Subjects include the organization of a consumers' research foundation in 1928, U.S. Temporary National Economic Committee in 1939, Great Island Conference organized to promote peace following World War II, Reader's Digest, Standard Oil Company, Twentieth Century Fund, and Chase's relationship with Sinclair Lewis. Includes drafts of Chase's book, Power of Words (1954).
