One of the best in the series   (2016-10-14)
The second book of the series is where, I think, Harry Potter really started to take off as a series, establishing itself as a wholly new and 'magical' series. Every part of this book was wonderful and I have gone back to read it time and again!
Well researched look into George Washington's life   (2016-09-07)
I was amazed of how well researched this book. It helps paint the whole picture of what George Washington was like. It makes you appreciate how strategic Washington was and how he persevered through all the adversity he faced. Great book for any history lover!

Darker, more intense than #1 and #2--combined. A true must-read.   (2011-09-20)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban reveals another major character: Sirius Black, a character convicted of a magical murder...and who has a mysterious, close connection with Harry himself. This is much darker than #1 and #2, and much better, even. Even more truths are uncovered....

My Thoughts.....   (2009-12-17)
A true timeless classic, this is a heartwarming tale follows the relationship between a boy and a tree through several decades. I loved it. I think that this is a great read for the beginning reader, and also a great introduction to Emotional Intelligence (EQ) as well.

Great for Parent to Child   (2010-02-13)
What a book! I read this book to my 5 year old child and it touched him as it did me. He "got it" as I "got it". Highly recommended story. True to life.

Slightly lesser than POA, but still brilliant, dark, magical.   (2011-09-20)
Voldemort (you know, the dark, creepy wizard that gives the series a plot--without spoiling anything, anyway) is rising in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a much darker, much more magical sequel to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This is precisely twice...

I picked this book up at the Broward County Library in Ft. Lauderdale. Life lessons we should all live by   (2008-10-08)
I had seen the online video of Randy Pausch's "Last Lecture" at Carnegie Mellon University a couple of months ago. He'd been featured on an episode of "Oprah," and I was so impressed by his optimism in the face of tragedy, that I actually searched for and carved out time to watch the whole lecture. ...

A great, sometimes overly-long, and overall magical beginning.   (2011-09-20)
I was fascinated by how J.K. Rowling--a woman on English welfare--was so well-educated and so brilliant that she could compile all the mythology she had ever learned about and twist it all into Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Yep--everything from Fluffy the Three-Headed Dog to...
