Abstract:

In the first part of this film South Vietnamese women talk about life, politics, feminism and women's liberation in post-war Vietnam. They also talk about their memories of the war years and the period of so-called "re-education." Some of them recall stories of famous heroines and female literary figures of Vietnam's past. The second part of the film focuses on Vietnamese women who chose to flee from their homeland to the United States at the end of the war. They tell of their experiences as refugees and the difficult adjustments as well as the success they have had in the United States. The words they speak are not always their own.
