Wallner’s watercolor illustrations have a kind of flat, primitive look that is the perfect accompaniment to this picture book biography of one of the most outstanding women in the history of the early American feminist movement. It is a rousing story that could be used as a book talk for grades 4-6. The appendix has a timeline, short biography and source notes. This is an excellent choice to expand biography sections in elementary libraries or anywhere there is interest in the topic. It could be used to teach the genre of biogeography or during women’s history month.
