Abstract:

Shoichi Taniguchi, working as an Office of Research Visiting Scholar, completed a prototype system for analyzing AACR2 cataloging rules (Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd ed., 1988) as a tool for maintaining quality control in the rules creation process. A paper on the results of his research will appear in the Journal of the American Society for Information Science (JASIS) in the near future. This article provides a synopsis of his paper.
