A professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia University, Greene is perhaps the best-known proponent of the superstring theory, the idea that miniscule strands of energy vibrating in a higher dimensional space-time create every particle and force in the universe. He is the co-founder of the World Science Festival and author of several best-selling and non-technical books on the subject, including The Elegant Universe and The Fabric of the Cosmos. In this TEDTalk, Greene explains his superstring theory and brings science to general audiences in a new and compelling way.
