Abstract:

Anti-smoking zealots say Nick Naylor, chief spokesman for the Academy of Tobacco Studies, is just like a Nazi. Nick's defense is that he's got to pay his mortgage some way. That mortgage could be jeopardized by Nick's boss, who wonders if Nick is worth $150,000 a year to fight a losing battle. Nick seeks counsel from two sympathetic souls who work for the gun and alcohol lobbies. Proudly calling themselves the MOD (Merchants of Death) Squad, they lament their plight and argue whose job promotes death the most.
