Abstract:

Ted Chapin, executive director and president of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, discusses with interviewers Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins how the organization has changed since his arrival shortly after the death of composer Richard Rodgers in 1979. Chapin also comments on recent productions of Carousel, The king & I, and Mary Rodgers' Once upon a mattress.

Playwright Jonathan Reynolds discusses his controversial play Stonewall Jackson's house, in which a modern day African-American woman imagines herself a 19th century slave. Includes brief interviews with the play's leading lady, Lisa Louise Langford, and its producer, Wynn Handman. This segment begins at 13:05.
