Abstract:

A detailed literature survey of the historical development of locking material is presented. The practical application of a locking medium is also discussed; and introducing an equation of state, the various thermodynamic state variables are calculated. Then the constitutive equations and the entropy equation for finite deformation are derived using an irreversible thermodynamic process. As an application, a general mathematical theory of finite thermoelasticity for an elastic perfectly locking material is formulated.
