Abstract:

The complete collection of Martin Scorsese's early short films. In "American boy" Scorsese presents a cinema verite documentary in an interview with the actor Steven Prince. In "The big shave" a young man enters a bathroom, lathers his face, and shaves over and over again, nicking his face and drawing blood. "Italianamerican" is a documentary in which Martin Scorsese interviews his parents about their personal experiences as Italian Americans and life in New York's Little Italy. "It's not just you, Murray!" depicts a mobster looking back at his life as a bootlegger and his rise to wealth. In "What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?" a writer buys a picture of a boat on a lake, and his obsession with it renders normal life impossible. He attempts to function again by consulting an analyst and becoming married, but eventually succumbs to his strange anxiety.
