Abstract:

Travel to other planets is now a reality - and a necessity, with the population of Earth stretching its resources to the limit. There's a problem, though. Because spaceships are slower than light, any communication between the ships and Earth will take years. Aproject to trial if telepathic twins can bridge the time gap is undertaken and Tom and Pat are recruited by the Long Range Foundation to be the human transmitters and receivers that will keep the ships in contact with Earth. But there is a catch: one has to stay behind. For the twin on an exploratory space voyage only a few years pass, yet, when he returns to Earth, his brother will have grown old.
