On April 14, 1912, the R.M.S. Titanic struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage and foundered within two hours. Titanic, disaster in the Atlantic: This heavily fictionalized feature was the first sound film of the disaster (90 min.). The Titanic chronicles: The American government held a series of hearings to investigate the disaster, chaired by Senator William Alden Smith of Michigan. These hearings were open to the public and filled with eyewitness accounts representing several different points of view. The actual testimony is portrayed in this 1999 presentation (55 min.).
