Abstract:

Titian has probably received lavish praise than any painter who has ever lived. He has been called "the greatest painter of all time," "the very mirror of nature, only that the mirror reflects whilst Titian creates,"an inexhaustible genius." His tremendous body of work created over a long and fruitful career became the school for a host of Venetian painters and an inspiration to Rubens, Delacroix, and Renior. The high reputation that he enjoyed during his own lifetime has never been eclipsed but has been renewed by each succeeding generation. Featuring some of his well known works and 20 colour slides with commentary on these slides.
