Abstract:

Tradition says that after the world was created, the Tlacuache (opossum) decided to go in search of fire as a gift to men. He went through several villages and came to the top of a mountain to steal a coal from Mrs. Fire. "With the fire men were men and that's how the story began." This legend, analyzed by Maestro Alfredo López Austin, appears in several indigenous traditions.

This is an opossum. This animal has hardly changed since it appeared 50 million years ago. It is one of the oldest mammals on earth and with his skillful hands, it can circumvent locks.
