Abstract:

Paper 1: Presents the the results of a special study financed by the Yale Bureau of Highway Traffic, in which careful and precise measurements were obtained, during a period of 8 hours, of the progress of all vehicles in a lane of traffic through a test section subject to congestion. Paper 2: Cook County Highway Department investigated Wardrop and Charlesworth's sampling technique to test its usefulness in this country, considering only the estimation of the flow of traffic. Paper 3: The Committee on Operating Speeds in Urban Areas was organized for the purpose of developing a technique for measuring the speed of traffic on urban facilities on an annual average basis.
