Abstract:
It explains how you can use training strategies, methods, and devices to accommodate special needs; rid yourself of inaccurate and damaging perceptions about what employees with disabilities can and can't do; comply with ADA and other legislation; change attitudes and remove both physical and psychological barriers in the workplace; and train managers and supervisors of employees with disabilities.
The book offers general instructional approaches as well as specific techniques for working with employees with disabilities in the classroom, shop, laboratory, or other workplace environment. You'll also learn about the latest materials and assistive technologies, from low-tech to computer driven equipment, communication aids, and special vehicles.
This ready reference also provides an overview of the nature of disability, related laws and regulations, federal and state programs and services, and recruiting and hiring guidelines. Extensive resource sections list books and videos for further information plus directories of organizations offering assistance, equipment, and materials.
