Abstract:

This series consists of copies and duplicate originals of transcripts of press conferences, interviews, and remarks of Mario M. Cuomo during the course of his gubernatorial administration. Transcripts typically include a cover sheet listing the event and/or audience, date, and the name of the company which prepared the transcript. Those transcripts missing a cover sheet, and which are not dated, are found at the end of the series.

The bulk of the events transcribed are official press conferences held by the governor at the Capitol. Also included are transcripts of bill signings, budget messages (or "budget school" held specifically for the press), C-Span call-in programs, meetings with newspaper editorial boards, interviews on nationwide news or talk shows (e.g., "Good Morning America", the "Today Show") and "press opportunities" following talks given by the governor at other places.

This accretion consists of "press transcripts" of press conferences of Mario Cuomo, primarily held at the Capitol, and of interviews with print and non-print media. Of special note are transcripts of radio interviews, and scripts for radio "beepers" (messages recorded by the governor for broadcast) which celebrate holidays, promote special events, or provide information on government programs, emergency assistance, and business/consumer opportunities and activities.
