Abstract:

During his wide travels John Dos Passos [the author] witnessed and wrote about many of the tumultuous events of the early 20th century. "Rosinante to the Road Again" collects essays on Spanish life, literature, and art. "Orient Express" describes a journey in 1921 through Turkey, the Soviet Caucasus, Persia, and Iraq and includes eight paintings by Dos Passos. "In All Countries" and "Journeys Between Wars" examine Russia, Mexico, France, the United States, and Spain before and during its civil war. Also included are "A Pushcart at the Curb," travel poems; nine other essays; and letters and diaries recording Dos Passos' service as an ambulance driver in World War I.-Dust jacket.
