Abstract:
Presents a selection of manuscripts and art pieces from the 1977 Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition of early Irish art. Sketches the Irish tradition in art from the bronze age to the accession of Henry VII, and includes such examples as the Book of Kells, Petrie crown, Tara brooch, and Ardagh chalice.
