Abstract:
This article examines three key trends in the development of the public Web - size and growth, internationalization, and metadata usage - based on data from the OCLC Office of Research Web Characterization Project, an initiative that explores fundamental questions about the Web and its contents through a series of Web samples conducted annually since 1998.
