Abstract:

In a mock trial, the title character of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" is tried for the murder of the king's attendant, Polonius. The two witnesses answer questions about Hamlet's mental state by referring to the "transcript" by Shakespeare. At the conclusion of the proceeding, Justice Kennedy discusses trial strategy with the attorneys and takes questions from the audience.
