Most of the letters were written by Samuel Adams. Joseph Warren's attack on Governor Bernard has a separate half title following p. 82: Papers relating to a supposed libel on the governor of the province of Massachusetts Bay. John Adams' dissertation is here tentatively attributed to Jeremy Gridley. Both of the latter 2 had been previously published in the Boston Gazette. Included as a postscript is a letter signed " ... F.S." by Benjamin Franklin, previously published in the London Chronicle, known as: Causes of the American discontents before 1768: p. 143-158.
