Contents: Forgive me, now --
When you weep over my grave --
You were selfish and weak --
I died a virgin --
I died dishonored --
I was sorry to leave you --
I lie here at rest and content --
I was a famous woman --
One night I gave you my heart --
My youth was white --
Hail Mary, full of grace --
I laughed my way through life --
From out of my great sorrow --
Thirty years I kept my husband's house --
When I descended the steps --
This is my grave --
Here by my grave --
Happy, adored, a bride --
I lie here, murdered --
We are two women --
Your will see from my tombstone --
Over my grave --
I died, not yet a mother --
I have been puzzled --
Myself a mother, I died --
Because I lie sorrowful --
My husband's house --
My death --
I rushed violently to my death --
I was one of those blessedly damned --
I died while sleeping --
You all thought me exquisite --
"Ah, life," I prayed --
Before I passed below --
I was calm in my life --
A beggar lies here --
We were twin sisters --
An old woman lies here --
As I rest here, dead --
Now I am dead --
When I was young --
To all you living --
Shakespeare's wife --
Pilate's wife --
Newton's wife --
Luther's wife --
The wife of Cadmus --
The mother of Mary and Martha --
Caesar's wife --
Adam's wife --
Lincoln's mother --
Dante's wife --
One of Bluebeard's wives --
Milton's daughters --
Potiphar's wife --
The mother of Joan of Arc --
The wife of Columbus --
Nero's mother --
The wife of Judas --
Socrates' wife.
