Abstract:

Adapted from original scripts written for the television show created by Rod Serling that aired from 1959 to 1965, these radio dramas were contemporized and expanded to accommodate a radio format. Serling's widow, Carol Serling, praised the radio adaptations, calling them truly astounding. Hosted by Stacy Keach, the readings feature celebrities Jason Alexander, Jane Seymour, Blair Underwood, Ed Begley, Jr., Lou Diamond Phillips, Adam Baldwin, Bruno Kirby, Daniel J. Travanti, and many more.

To serve man: Alien "Kanamits" land on Earth with a promise "to serve man" on a cryptic book that they've brought from their distant planet. A quality of mercy: A kill-happy young lieutenant gets a new perspective on war when he is forced to experience life from the enemy's point of view. Four O'Clock: To combat all that he considers evil, a cranky hermit decides he will shrink all his enemies to two feet tall at exactly 4 p.m. Nervous man in a four dollar room: A smalltime hood is ordered to kill a man. Knowing that he hasn't got the backbone to commit murder or disobey his boss, he's suddenly confronted by another version of himself in a mirror's reflection. The dummy: A down-on-his-luck ventriloquist is convinced that his wooden dummy is alive and quite evil.
