Well written, well illustrated by an author who obviously knew the family. H.F. Morriss shows a little prejudice in his glowing accounts of achievement and patriotism by the two brothers - Charles and Henry Rolls - but this does not detract. Any reader interested in the early history of automobiles, flying and ballooning will find it hard to put this book down.
For information, the undated "subscription edition (half-a-guinea nett)" published by Richard J. James is red cloth with embossed gilt titles on spine and front board, 17 x 11 cms, 212pp plus 60 tipped in b/w illustrations (mostly photographs.) I believe this to be the "true first". It finishes with a poetic tribute dated "Nov. 8th 1916" to the two brother's father who died from wounds during WWI, but as this is the very last printed page, it looks like a last-minute addition to an already completed volume. Publication date could therefore have been 1916.
