My daughter found the premise of this book horrifying.  The story of an orphan who has lost everything but one suit of clothing and his dog was very frightening to her.

I found the story delightful, sometimes preachy which is typical of LMA, and sometimes a sexist, but LMA does refute the sexism.

This would be a great book to read to your child(ren).
