Abstract:

The Undertaker avenged wrongs done to the Mexican people of Peralta - he executed villains and left gold coins as a reparation for innocent victims. After seven years as marshal, Frank Butler understood why the legend of the Undertaker had started so long ago and why it persisted even now, but he wasn't sure he believed it. When Mexican revolutionaries arrived in the desert near Peralta, the whole town became a sitting duck. Butler had his hands full as he and a few posse men tried to stop the bandoleros from crossing the desert and attacking the town. The last thing he needed was a lot of superstitious non-sense about the Undertaker. But after meeting up with Texan bandits and Esparza's desperadoes, Butler realized the Undertaker was exatly what he did need! --Book jacket.
