In this project K. Anne Pyburn delivers a much needed step back from traditional assumptions about the progression of evolution and processional civilization. Never before have the works of Engles and Wolfe been so respectfully and logically parried, keeping what is worth keeping, and throwing the rest out. Here we are charged with the responsibility to apply the scientific method to our understanding of archeology, and to move beyond conjectured structures and 'bad science.' Evidence is delivered plainly and simply, as one delivers a simple equation. Pyburn and her talented students take us farther into the realm of what can be known, and give a lesson on what cannot, challenging everyone to reject filling in the difference through oversimplification for the sake of tradition. Kudos!
