The Goss was originally commissioned 26 August 1944, served in World War II, and was decommissioned at San Diego 15 June 1946. She was recommissioned 27 December 1950 at San Diego and was assigned as a reserve training ship. The ship was decommissioned at Astoria, Ore., 10 October 1958 and placed in reserve.
