Begins with his birth on April 2, 1939 in Washington, D.C., growing up in D.C. with an abusive father, quittting high school to join the Air Force. joining Harvey Fuqua's group The Moonglows and moving to Detroit where he met Berry Gordy, in 1960. Continues with Gaye's transformation from a crooner to an R&B star for Motown Records.
