Abstract:

The collection includes a letter, 1782, to Benjamin Harrison from Theodorick Bland, James Madison, Arthur Lee and Joseph Jones mentioning information being forwarded to Pennsylvania and Virginia, noting that Harrison's letter regarding the captives in North Carolina has not been reported on, and mentioning the postponement of a decision on the cession of western land.

Other items include letters, 1782-1809, from Charles Lee regarding business and court cases; letter, 1783, James Monroe to John Francis Mercer on his health; and letter, 1797, Henry Lee to William A. Washington giving legal advice.

The collection also includes a letter, 1812, Henry Clay to Richard Rush concerning a bill passed in Congress regarding the Messrs. Streshlys; letter of thanks, 1867, from Alfred Tennyson to [John Richard Vernon?] for his book "Harvest of a Quiet Eye"; and letter, 1892, Thomas Nelson Page to Barrett Wendell concerning a proposal to erect a memorial to U. Va. students who died in the Civil War.

Also include letters, 1914-1915, from John S. Mosby discussing lectures and his book; and letters, 1933, Ellen Glasgow to Harvey Taylor regarding a bibliography of her work.
