In an alternate version of Manchester, England, society has been shaped by Vurt, a hallucinogenic drug accessed by sucking on colour-coded feathers. When Scribble and his sister Desdemona take a shared trip to a Vurt called Curious Yellow, only Scribble returns intact. Desdemona has been replaced by an amorphous blob, and Scribble must find another copy of the rare yellow feather to bring her back.
