A nice addition to any library.   (2009-07-13)

This is a difficult book to describe.  It is a "picture" book / graphic presentation of the life of illustrator Peter Sis.  It contains information about the conditions during the Cold War.  The book is dramatic and the use of beige, red, black and white is visually compelling but I don't think young readers will be interested.  Readers who liked Maus might read it but I wouldn't buy it for an elementary circulating collection because I just don't think K-6 is the right audience for this book even though it is an Caldecott honor winner.
