|Notes:||In 1769 and 1770 a contest was conducted by several of the towns being considered for the permanent site of the college. A portion of this subscription was designated as unconditional while the remaining sum was offered on the condition that Providence be selected as the permanent site.
John Carter was the only printer active at Providence at this time.
