Vol. 1 is a translation of De præsulibus Hiberniæ commentarius, with additions by editor; v. 2, pt. 1, of De Hibernia et antiquitatibus ejus disquisitiones, "with eight additional chapters, and other improvements from his own and other papers;" v. 2, pt. 2, of De scriptoribus Hiberniæ, "with the addition of near 400 new articles, many from a copy interleaved by the author." cf. Pref. and Gough's Britannica topographica.
"The unsold copies of Harris's edition [1739-46] of Ware's writings were re-issued at Dublin with new title-pages in 1764"--Dict. nat. biog.
Description: 3 pts. in 2 volumes, [36] pages of plates : frontispieces, portraits, plans ; 33 cm
Contents: v. 1. The history of the bishops of that kingdom, and such matters ecclesiastical and civil, in which they were concerned.--v. 2. The history and antiquities of Ireland. The history of the writers of Ireland ... with an account of all the works they published.
Responsibility: written in Latin by Sir James Ware, knight ; newly translated into English, revised and improved with many material additions, and continued down to the beginning of the present century, by Walter Harris.
