Abstract:

The collection consists of papers of William Robert Miller from ca. 1960-1968. The papers include copies of letters to and from Martin Luther King, Jr.; the manuscript of two of Miller's works, VIOLENCE IN THE SOUTHERN UNITED STATES SINCE 1955 and MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., HIS LIFE, MARTYRDOM AND MEANING FOR THE WORLD; and his notes regarding the civil rights movement (1947-1966). The collection also contains subject files containing correspondence, articles, and printed material relating to the civil rights movement including extensive files on events in Albany (Ga.) and Birmingham (Ala.); Martin Luther King, J. Edwin Stanfield, and Howard Zinn; and the Southern Regional Council.
