Subject files of the founder, editor, and publisher of the Madison, Wisconsin, Capital Times, including both personal and professional correspondence, clippings, memoranda, financial material, posters, and speeches. The papers primarily date from the late 1930s and relate to the entire range of Evjue's interests: state and national politics, governmental corruption, Joseph R. McCarthy, Alvin O'Konski, the Taliesin Fellowship, cooperatives, public utilities, gambling, freedom of the press, and the rights of farmers and workers. Scattered materials pertain to the operation of the Capital Times, Madison Newspapers Inc., and Badger Broadcasting Company.
