If I were to have written this book, I would have titled it ''Who Knows Tomorrow?' ' as that was the thrust of the book. The book was able to show the vanity of overrating oneself and underrating others who one feels better or superior to.

The book tells the life of Chief Dagogo a Nigerian businessman and egoistic father whose death in controversial circumstances reduced his otherwise affluent family to a state of abject poverty over time. The good that he did for some people made them remember his children. But the consequences of his own wickedness also rubbed in on his innocent children.

Fortunio Dagogo was his eldest child and the book centred on him and his ordeals. He joined a campus secret cult to win a campus election but that was the beginning of his own woes. He was rusticated and life became even worse for him. He attempted suicide but was lucky to have survived by the wisdom of a common Lizard which refused to give up on the Wall.

Fortunio Dagogo met Bridget Osaro a former house help to his father whose father is now very successful. Bridget brings Fortunio to her father and her father remembers the kindness of Chief Dagogo and tries to rehabilitate Fortunio. Bridget falls in love with Fortunio and they are married. They relocated to London and life started again fresh. But tragedy struck again. Bridget is poisoned by Fortunio mistakenly and she dies. Chief Osaro is shocked and he dies of heart attack. Fortunio returns to Nigeria to bury them both. Family wars began. Fortunio is exhausted and financially spent. He cannot pay back his loans. He decided against returning to London. He started to smoke and drink against medical advice. He contracted Lung Cancer.

Interesting that this work of art by a young Nigerian at Senior Secondary School Class II was told entirely in flashback by Doctor Akpotu, a university friend of Fortunio Dagogo who rather than enmesh himself in campus politics, concentrated on his studies and stayed focussed and became successful.

Fortunio eventually dies. This is the part that I find unnecessary by the author who, in trying to pass across a valid messages engaged in 'murdering all the characters in the book''. I also find the book rather weak at characterization but very strong on narration, dialogue and moral lessons.

On the whole, the book is a very good material for young adults, school kids, politicians and especially tertiary students. It is also a good pleasure reading for other readers who are also interested in reading for artistic and moral values.
