The Winged Tiger and the Lace Princess is a charming story that interweaves the lives of fairy tale characters with photographs of Lieve Jerger's art work. The lace sculptures executed in copper wire play the starring role in this story of war, thwarted love, and the perseverance of the artist overcoming an evil prince who wants to own everything he sees. Though the Winged Tiger comes to the rescue, it is the love between the Farmer Prince and the Lace Princess that carries the narrative. It is a story for lovers, artists and children still open to a world of hope and dreams. The watercolor illustrations by Phil Yeh are saturated with color, whimsical and often incorporate photographs of the copper carriage that the Lace Princess is working on in the story. This is a most unusual fusion of fiction and realism, fairy tale and artwork.
