Abstract:
1. Tape record of wireless telegraphy messages received on board H.M.S. St. George (escort to the Royal Yacht Ophir) when going down Port Phillip Bay on Saturday 18 May, 1901, from a station at Point Ormond, St. Kilda; also enclosed is transcription of the two tape records and an extract from the "Listener In", 19 June 1926, giving an account of the event and of early wireless experiments (shelved at MS FB 7 (EX BOX 376/2)). 2. Tape record of the farewell messages received at Point Ormond from the St. George when going down Port Phillip Bay on the 18 May 1901; enclosed is a plan of the wireless apparatus, dated September, 1900 (MS BOX 376/1).
