Abstract:

In "The Girl With a Gift For Disaster", legendary white-collar criminal William Mayfield plans on using stolen cutting-edge technology to plunge Washington DC into a city-wide blackout. While the police and armed forces are taking care of the inevitable riot in the streets, Mayfield will steal the invaluable Declaration of Independence. To help bring his plan to fruition, Mayfield hopes to use Bonnie Murphy, unaware that with Wonder Woman's influence, Bonnie's "gift" could be used for good rather than evil. In other words, it's Mayfield who will fall victim to Bonnie's jinx and not the people fighting on the side of right. Through Bonnie's direct influence, power is restored to the city before the crime can be carried out. Diana, just transferred to Los Angeles, witnesses a traffic accident involving a car and a monkey in "The Man Who Could Not Die". She is shocked to learn that the spider monkey is absolutely fine, and that it's registered to the agency's Dr. Akers. It's revealed that Akers and a fellow scientist named Reichman were conducting some experiments devoted to slowing the aging process. What they found, instead, was serum that would make its user invulnerable to all pain. Akers immediately stopped the experiments, but Reichman, he's afraid, is continuing them with the hopes of building an invincible army that will conquer America and, in turn, the world itself. Wonder Woman has got one problem in particular: how on earth do you stop an unstoppable force? To figure that out, she teams up with one of Reichman's experiments, Bryce Kandel.
