Abstract:

This workbook will help students develop their vocabulary in the workplace. There are five main sections: • Making words - explores different aspects of word formation, such as the use of prefixes and suffixes • Putting words together to create a new meaning - covers compound words, idioms, binomials • Using words with similar meanings - helps learners use words with similar meanings and deals with synonyms, antonyms and word sets • Putting words into action - looks at spoken and written language with work on prediction skills as well as writing skills • Using your dictionary - can be used with the Australian learners dictionary. Each section gives topic information followed by practice activities and learning strategies to help students develop their vocabulary. Answers are provided. Two very useful workbooks for anyone learning the English language, or is interested in increasing their vocabulary or understanding of it. Suitable for both self-access use and use with a teacher.
