Abstract:

This thesis attempts to explain the connection between motivation and writing. It is important to note that it is not all encompassing: this study is qualitative rather than quantitative. Humans are complex beings, and many thing motivate us--not just our dreams, history, and personal experience. This thesis explores dreams, history, and personal experience as motivational in writing, but also reveals that interest, imagination, and other writers often play a motivational role for an author.
