Women in mission : from the New Testament to today by Susan E Smith( Book )
3 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 213 libraries worldwide
In matters of mission history, most major works that treat the full sweep of the church's missional self-understanding are less than helpful in understanding women's part of that narrative. Smith tries to redress the balance with a comprehensive history of mission that highlights the critical contributions of women, as well as the theological developments that influenced their role. --From publisher's description

The George Sainsbury Foundation was established in 1989, ̀for research into and treatment of spirit possession as it relates to mental illness for the benefit of those persons suffering from such sickness.' In 2006, a legal representative for the Foundation approached the School of Theology at the University of Auckland, asking if the School could conduct research into spirit possession. The research project undertaken in response to the grant of funds from the George Sainbury Foundation was conducted in Aotearoa New Zealand for the ̀benefit of those suffering' from spirit possession in this particular context. --Book Jacket

Call to mission : the story of the Mission Sisters of Aotearoa New Zealand and Samoa by Susan E Smith( Book )
3 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 49 libraries worldwide
The first four Mission Sisters journeyed from France to Napier, New Zealand, in 1865. One hundred years later, there were more than three hundred Sisters living and working in New Zealand and elsewhere. Sadly, national and diocesan church histories in New Zealand tend to overlook the important contribution that women, particularly Catholic Sisters, have made to the life of the Church. This book attempts to redress that situation by directing attention to the significant educational and pastoral ministries in which the Mission Sisters were involved before Vatican II, and the changes that the Vatican Council's decrees and teachings meant for their lives and ministries. The last section explores the spirituality of the Sisters. The close relationship between their mission and their spirituality, and the pre-Vatican and post-Vatican II theologies in which they were and are grounded are rigorously and sensitively explored. This book is an important landmark in understanding better the contribution of the Mission Sisters in New Zealand, and overseas in countries as diverse as Sudan, India, or Samoa
