6 editions published between 1851 and 1871 in English and held by 51 libraries worldwide
Thomas Carlyle undertook this biography of his friend, the British author John Sterling (1806 1844), because he was so dissatisfied with an earlier biography of Sterling by Julius Charles Hare. Sterling was an ordained curate at Hurstmonceux, but retired and began writing. His highest literary achievements were the articles he published in Blackwood's Magazine such as, The Onyx Ring and The Palace of Morgana. Carlyle's biography has since become a classic and is studied more as a work of Carlyle than the life of Sterling

However, the most exclusive club in the Bronx has been reserved for the men whose leadership, personalities, and attitude exemplify the ideals and virtues befitting the Captaincy. This special edition Yankeeography two-DVD collection salutes seven Captains from Lou Gehrig to Derek Jeter. Culled from the Emmy award-winning Yankeeography series, as seen on Yes Network, these seven player profiles span eras of Yankees greatness, generations of fans, and acknowledge the role each played for their teams"--Container
