The Life and Work of Sigmund Freud by Ernest Jones( Book )
128 editions published between 1953 and 2004 in 7 languages and held by 4,008 libraries worldwide
This is not intended to be a popular biography of Freud: several have been written already, containing serious distortions and untruths. Its aims are simply to record the main facts of Freud's life while they are still accessible, and--a more ambitious one--to try to relate his personality and the experiences of his life to the development of his ideas --Preface

Papers on psycho-analysis by Ernest Jones( Book )
113 editions published between 1913 and 2013 in English and Undetermined and held by 1,023 libraries worldwide
"The papers here collected have already appeared in print, for the most part in psychological journals that do not circulate widely among the medical profession. They constitute a selection of the author's contributions made during the past few years on the subject of psycho-analysis, and are now issued in a more accessible form in the hope of arousing further interest in this over-neglected and important branch of scientific investigation. Being under no illusions as to any intrinsic importance of the papers apart from the subject to which they relate, or, therefore, as to their documentary value, the author has not hesitated to alter considerably their original form, by modifications and additions, wherever this has seemed desirable. They have been grouped under five headings, according to the particular topic with which they deal, but otherwise are printed in the order of their publication. Having regard to the difference in the familiarity with French and German respectively in this country, the author has left the quotations from the former language in the original and has appended translations to those from the latter"--Preface. Sex in psychoanalysis by Sándor Ferenczi( Book )
11 editions published between 1916 and 1966 in English and Undetermined and held by 325 libraries worldwide
This book offers an opportunity for practicing analysts to see the development of analytic technique and the special angles of two of its most successful practitioners. The book was written in the summer of 1922, somewhat modified and altered by the events of the International Psycho-analytical Congress, held in Berlin in September of that year, and completed in 1923. The authors apologize for some of the deficiencies of structure on account of this history of its origin. The critical part of the work was originally written by Dr. Ferenczi, the didactic chapter "The Analytical Situation" by Dr. Rank and the work then jointly revised. As will be seen from the above, the book is intended primarily for practicing analysts and will appeal only to serious students of psycho-analysis. Addresses on psycho-analysis by James Jackson Putnam( Book )
15 editions published between 1921 and 1951 in English and held by 105 libraries worldwide
"The papers here collected into a single volume, which were written by Professor James J. Putnam, between 1909 and the end of his life, give a good picture of his relations to psychoanalysis. They show how he was at first occupied in correcting a provisional judgment which was based on insufficient knowledge; how he then accepted the essence of analysis, recognized its capacity for throwing a clear light upon the origin of human imperfections and failings, and how he was struck by the prospect of contributing towards the improvement of humanity along analytical lines; how he then became convinced by his own activities as a physician as to the truth of most of the psychoanalytical conclusions and postulates, and then in his turn bore witness to the fact that the physician who makes use of analysis understands far more about the sufferings of his patients and can do far more for them than was possible with the earlier methods of treatment; and finally how he began to extend beyond the limits of analysis, demanding that as a science it should be linked on to a particular philosophical system, and that its practice should be openly associated with a particular set of ethical doctrines"--Preface.
