A set of three counseling sessions illustrating the work of three behavioural psychotherapists: John Cobb, Nagy Bishay, and Malcolm Brown. Each session includes role-playing with commentaries, discussion points and exercises. All focus on cognitive therapy have been successfully used and can be easily adapted by course teachers for groups or individual viewing. John Cobb's session works with a patient with obsessional and phobic problems. Nagy Bishay's session works with a patient who is having recurring depressive illnesses despite medication. Shows responses of a loved boy who has never been out of his mother's care when he is admitted for nine days to a group of toddlers in a residential nursery. He tries unsuccessfully to attach himself to a nurse, but nurses are not assigned to individual children. He is not mothered or protected from attacks by the other children. Food and routines are strange. His father's visits do little to ease the situation. John becomes alarmingly distressed and eventually sinks into hopeless apathy. Upon reunion, he rejects his mother. Shows the importance of providing a substitute mother figure in such circumstances
