3 editions published in 2009 in English and held by 136 libraries worldwide
"Bill Culbert is one of New Zealand's most celebrated artists. Light is the material of his art, 'both object, and the means by which objects are prerceived'. In Bill Culbert : making light work, the first substantial monograph on the artist's work, writer and critic Ian Wedde explores the ideas, materials and conditions that have formed Culbert's art over the past fifty years." -- Book jacket

2 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 16 libraries worldwide
"Few New Zealand artists have sustained such a creative practice over so many years to such international acclaim. Culbert's transformation of ordinary and often discarded objects into an extraordinary "otherness" is uplifting, quite literally so in the case of the suspended sculptures he has fashioned for La Pietà. Despite its sometimes cheerful air of improvisation, nothing in Culbert's practice is gratuitous. Combining light and things with rare economy, he produces art that is austere, poetic and challenging in the way it invites us to revalue familiar things and focus our perceptions. "--Foreword
