In his introduction to this new translation by Russell Price, Professor Skinner presents a lucid analysis of Machiavelli's text as a response both to the world of Florentine politics, and as an attack on the advice-books for princes published by a number of his contemporaries. This new edition includes notes on the principal events in Machiavelli's life, and on the vocabulary of The Prince, as well as biographical notes on characters in the text

Niccolo di Bernardo dei Machiavelli (1469-1527) was an Italian political philosopher, musician, poet, and romantic comedic playwright. He is a figure of the Italian Renaissance and a central figure of its political component, most widely known for his treatises on realist political theory -The Prince (1513)- on the one hand and republicanism -Discourses on Livy (1512-1517)- on the other
The prince by Niccolò Machiavelli( Sound Recording )
50 editions published between 1986 and 2013 in English and No Linguistic Content and held by 1,555 libraries worldwide
This first great work of modern political and historical analysis examines the political career of Cesare Borgia, and coins the word 'machiavellian' to connote political treachery
Discourses on Livy by Niccolò Machiavelli( file )
16 editions published between 1997 and 2008 in English and Chinese and held by 1,517 libraries worldwide
Discourses on Livy (1531) demonstrates Machiavelli's fundamental preference for the republicanism of ancient Rome. In an age when political absolutism was increasingly the norm, Machiavelli's republican theories would become a dangerous ideology, and his works were placed on the Index of Prohibited Works in 1559. This new translation is richly annotated, providing the contemporary reader with sufficient historical, linguistic and political information to understand and interpret the revolutionary affirmations Machiavelli made, based on the historical evidence he found in Livy
Mandragola; [comedy] by Niccolò Machiavelli( Book )
204 editions published between 1550 and 2012 in 6 languages and held by 1,263 libraries worldwide
